Local Cities and Retailers Get Swept Away with WaterBrooms
Central Basin, WRD, MWD partner to distribute 50 free water-saving commercial brooms
Carson, CA - Central Basin Municipal Water District hosted the first Watermiser® Waterbrooms giveaway Wednesday, March 21, to distribute 50 water-efficient brooms, valued at more than $250, to local cities and water retailers at its Carson headquarters.
The giveaway event was made possible through increased funding by Central Basin and the Water Replenishment District (WRD), along with current rebate incentives offered by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD). The event was organized as a follow-up to last week's Purveyor Outreach Workshop, highlighting the District's ongoing commitment to provide key resources and support to its cities and retailers.
The patented Waterbroom uses state-of-the-art technology that combines water and air pressure to increase cleaning power while using less water. While hosing down a driveway can waste up to 18 gallons of water per minute (gpm), Waterbrooms use as little as 2.8 gpm to clean outdoor surfaces. The use of Waterbrooms at local facilities will save more than 10 million gallons of water over the next five years.
"These events enable us to directly assist local cities and retailers in conserving our water supply on a regional scale," said Central Basin Board President Robert Apodaca. "It's great to see our communities taking advantage of this opportunity to promote the latest high-efficiency products."
Cities, retailers or business owners who missed out on this week's distribution can still take advantage of a $250 rebate program offered to customers in Central Basin's service area. The rebate program will be offered through June 30, 2007 or while supplies last. After June 30, the rebate amount for Watermiser® Waterbrooms will return to $150 for Central Basin customers.
