El Rancho High School Graduate Earns Scholarship
Central Basin MWD selects Daniel A. Argueto as this year's recipient
Carson, CA - Looking towards a promising future, local high school graduate Daniel Argueto beamed as he received a $1,000 scholarship from the Central Basin Municipal Water District Board of Directors at this month's board meeting. Daniel, a graduate of El Rancho High School, will use the scholarship at the University of California in Santa Barbara, to pursue his dream of obtaining a bachelor's degree.
"Central Basin is proud to continue serving the community by supporting local students through the Honor Crest Student College Fund at El Rancho High School," said Central Basin Board President Bob Apodaca. "This scholarship program and others like it are essential to providing our leaders of tomorrow with the tools they need today."
Daniel earned an impressive 3.78 GPA at El Rancho High School, ranking in the top 4 percent of a class of 637 students. Active in extracurricular activities, Daniel was a member of the music club, played on the varsity track and soccer teams, and volunteered regularly at Rio Vista Elementary School's youth soccer program.
"At such a young age, Daniel already exemplifies the qualities of a good leader," said President Apodaca. "We are confident that this scholarship will serve him well in his continued success at college."
Through the Honor Crest Student College Fund at El Rancho High School, community organizations and agencies like Central Basin present scholarships to seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence (and maintained a grade point average above 3.33) during their high school careers. Scholarship recipients receive their awards upon proof of registration at the college of their choice.
