Local Water District Announces 'Water is Life' Poster Contest
Grand Prize Winner Will Take Home a Laptop Computer
CARSON, CA. - In celebration of Water Awareness month, Central Basin Municipal Water District is accepting entrees for its 2003 'Water is Life' poster contest. Students from schools across the district are eligible to participate. The grand prize winner's entry will debut in the Metropolitan Water District's 'Water is Life' calendar, and will receive a laptop computer in June courtesy of Central Basin Municipal Water District.
All K-12 students who attend school in Bell Gardens, Downey, Montebello, Norwalk, La Habra Heights, La Mirada, Pico Rivera, Santa Fe Springs, Whittier, Commerce, Huntington Park, Maywood, Vernon, Bell, Cudahy, Lynwood, South Gate, Artesia, Bellflower, Cerritos, Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood, Paramount, Signal Hill, and unincorporated East Los Angeles are eligible to participate.
"Each year we offer the opportunity to highlight a student from our district in the 'Water is Life' contest," stated Robert Apodaca, President of the Central Basin Municipal Water District Board of Directors. "The poster contest is just one aspect of the popular environmental educational tours and program we offer to all schools in the district."
The posters should focus on water recycling and water conservation depicting various water uses or wise water use at home or in school, in industry or business, in the environment, or in recreation. All entries should be received by Friday, May 16, 2003. Mail all entries to Central Basin Municipal Water District, attention Mark Moss, 17140 S. Avalon Boulevard, Carson, California 90745.
