El Rancho High School Graduate Earns Environmental Scholarship

Central Basin MWD Presents Erika Moreira with College Scholarship

CARSON, CA. - Central Basin Municipal Water District awarded local high school graduate, Erika Moreira, a $1,000 scholarship at this month's board meeting. Erika, a June graduate of El Rancho High School, will use the scholarship at the University of California, Irvine to pursue her dream of obtaining a bachelor's degree.

"It is imperative that we help our youth reach their higher education goals," said Central Basin Board President Bob Apodaca. "In these tough economic times, money for our children's college education is hard to come by. I am pleased to have the opportunity to give a helping hand to a young person seeking a bright future."

Erika, a graduate of Rivera Elementary in Pico Rivera and Montebello Christian School, earned an impressive 3.93 GPA at El Rancho High School. A member of the UCI Christian group, Erika is considering an academic career in the field of psychology.
