Central Basin MWD Donates Bottled Water to South Gate Schools

Precautions Taken for Bacterial Detection in Local Water

South Gate, CA - Central Basin Municipal Water District donated approximately 1,000 bottles of water to South Gate schools Wednesday, September 22 after the City issued a request for residents to boil their water following reports of bacterial detection in the city's local drinking water system.

Upon learning that the city was purchasing bottled water for local schools, Central Basin Director Olga E. Gonzalez, whose division includes the City of South Gate, offered to supplement their supply with approximately 1,000 bottles of Central Basin water.

"We're glad to help our school children through this local water crisis," said Gonzalez.

The City has estimated that the boil water order will last for approximately the next 48 hours.
