Central Basin Director Phillip D. Hawkins Appointed to Metropolitan Water District Committee Chairmanship
Hawkins to chair new special committee on real estate and asset management
Commerce, CA - Central Basin Municipal Water District Director Phillip D. Hawkins has been appointed Chair of Metropolitan Water District's (MWD) Real Estate and Asset Management Special Committee. The appointment was among several committee assignments unanimously endorsed by the MWD Board of Directors at the December 9, 2008 Board Meeting. All appointments will be effective January 1, 2009.
As Chair of the newly formed committee, Director Hawkins will oversee the MWD construction funds the operation and maintenance of facilities and the design and construction of new recreational facilities throughout the MWD service area.
Director Hawkins was appointed in January 2008 by his fellow Central Basin Board members to represent the District on the MWD Board of Directors. In November 2008, Director Hawkins was re-elected to serve a third term as the Division V Director on the Central Basin Board, representing the cities of Artesia, Bellflower, Cerritos, Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood, Paramount and Signal Hill. Currently, he serves as the Vice President of the Central Basin Board of Directors and chairs the Central Basin Finance and Administration Committee.
Director Hawkins is also active in the Colorado River Users Water Authority, the American Water Works Association and the California Contract Cities Association.
Prior to entering the water industry, Director Hawkins was elected to the California State Assembly in 1994, representing the 56th Assembly District until 1996. Hawkins has also opened several businesses in the Norwalk and Bellflower area and has been a real estate broker since 1977. |
