Central Basin Partners with Orchard Dale Water District to Donate 200 Turkeys to Local Efforts

Agencies proudly donate to local legislators for annual turkey giveaway

What:

For the second year in a row, Central Basin Municipal Water District is partnering with the Orchard Dale Water District to donate 200 turkeys to three local legislators for their annual Operation Gobble distribution events.

The participating legislators include Senator Ron Calderon (D-Montebello) and Assemblyman Charles Calderon (D-Industry), who will be hosting their event together in the City of Montebello. Assemblyman Kevin De Leon (D-Los Angeles) will also be participating, hosting his event in East Los Angeles. Through these local distributions, more than 1,000 ready-to-cook turkeys will be distributed to families in need.

Operation Gobble was started in the late 1980s by the California Water Association, (CWA) a nonprofit organization of private water companies. The event continues to be a meaningful way for water utilities, lawmakers and community-based organizations to work together to assist those in need for the Thanksgiving holidays. Families receiving the turkeys have been pre-determined through local charities. The number of turkeys distributed each year is dependent on the support and generosity of local sponsors. The Golden State Water Company also participates every year.

Both events will offer great opportunities to see lawmakers in action, participating in a larger statewide program to provide turkeys to families in need.
