Statement on Passing of Environmentalist Dorothy Green

Commerce, CA - Central Basin joins the environmental community in mourning the passing of water policy activist and leader Dorothy Green, on October 13, 2008.

For more than 30 years, Dorothy Green has been one of the most influential leaders within the environmental community, tirelessly advocating for the quality and sustainability of California's water supplies. As founder of several preeminent nonprofit organizations, from Heal the Bay to the Los Angeles & San Gabriel Rivers Watershed Council and others, she has made innumerous and lasting contributions to the management and preservation of our most valuable natural resource.

Funeral Services and Arrangements

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Dorothy's honor to one of the organizations she founded: the California Water Impact Network (C-WIN); the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Rivers Watershed Council; and Heal the Bay.

Public memorial services will be held Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles, located at 5950 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles CA 90068. (800) 600-0076.
