Central Basin partners with local agencies to distribute 750+ High Efficiency Toilets - last event of the year will be September 27th in Artesia
In a continued effort to mitigate the regional impact of a statewide drought, Central Basin Municipal Water District has partnered with local agencies to bring back its popular High Efficiency Toilet (HET) distributions for a limited time.
From August 23 - September 27, three HET Distributions were scheduled in the Cities of Lynwood, Downey and Artesia. For each event, residents from throughout the District's 24-city service area could qualify to participate.
HETs, which included the newest water-saving technology, use only 1.3 gallons per flush (gpf) or less, compared to older models that use 5-7 gpf. In total, more than 750 HETs will be distributed through this program.
On September 27, Central Basin, in partnership with Golden State Water Company and the Metropolitan Water District, will host the final - and largest - HET Distribution of this program in the City of Artesia. Nearly 500 HETs, which have a market value of $300 or more, will be given away FREE to pre-qualified residents from throughout Central Basin's service area.
Funds raised from the recycling of old toilets will be donated to the City of Artesia's Friends of the Library, for the purchase of new books and library resources.
