(Los Angeles, August 3, 2010) The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) today is releasing to media its Economic Impact Study on the Central Basin Municipal Water District‘s Southeast Water Reliability Project (SWRP).

LAEDC, whose mission is to attract, retain, and grow businesses and jobs for the regions of Los Angeles County, is well-known for its reports which estimate the total economic impact of various projects and programs throughout the five-county Southern California region. The SWRP report shows that Phase I of the 15-mile long pipeline construction project provides an economic boost to the Southeast region in terms of jobs, dollars spent and tax revenues generated.

CBMWD is building SWRP to reduce current regional demand on imported water by 25% by delivering more than 5 billion gallons of recycled water annually to large industrial and irrigation sites in the area, to conserve the area’s groundwater and enhance the current operational reliability of the current water system. More details about the project and its benefits are included in the report attached to this email.

If you have any questions for Central Basin regarding the study, please contact Valerie Howard at (323) 201-5552.
