Welcome Reception for Jeff Kightlinger

On May 4, 2006, Central Basin hosted a special reception to introduce Jeff Kightlinger, the newly appointed General Manager of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, to the Central Basin community.

The Kightlinger Welcome Reception was sponsored along with the Long Beach Water Department, the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority, and the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District.

In the early evening hours, guests arrived at the beautiful Clarke Estate in Santa Fe Springs, gathering in the garden to enjoy hors d'oeuvres with live jazz and new friends. Against the festive backdrop, Central Basin Directors Bob Apodaca and Phil Pace introduced the guest of honor.

The night was a great success. By the evening's end, Mr. Kightlinger was awarded a Certificate of Outstanding Achievement by Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante, and presented with a special gift from Central Basin: a leather wallet made from buffalo skin.

The greatest part of the evening, for both Mr. Kightlinger and the Central Basin Directors, was the chance to gather in celebration with local agencies, civic leaders and community business owners. After all, at Central Basin, connecting with our service area is what we do best, and value most.
