District Delivers Bottled Water to Those Battling the Fires in the Valley

Carson, CA – Central Basin Municipal Water District donated and delivered several cases of bottled water to the firefighters facing the fires raging through the San Fernando Valley. More than 3,000 firefighters have been deployed to fight the blaze that has burned 20,000 acres and threatens homes in dozens of communities in Los Angeles and Ventura County.

“It’s very important to us to help our community in times of need,” said Central Basin Board President Robert Apodaca. “What those firefighters are doing out there is heroic and deserves to be commended. We just want to help in any way we can.”

This is not the first time Central Basin has donated bottled water to worthy causes. In the last month, the District also donated water to the local Red Cross in an effort to cut back the organization’s expenses during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Last year, bottled water was donated to the City of South Gate when drinking water was contaminated and local schools needed water for their students. Central Basin also distributes this promotional item free at community events throughout Los Angeles County.
