Gearing up for the ninth annual Solar Cup program, four local high schools within Central Basin’s service area will be among a total of 42 schools throughout Southern California participating in the largest solar powered boat competition. Local high school teams include: Huntington Park High School, Paramount High School West, Southeast ROP/Norwalk High School and Warren High School in Downey. Teams are busy now building hulls of the boats and will continue during the next seven months until they are fully equipped and ready for the competition.
