Central Basin Receives $5.6 Million in Stimulus Funding for Southeast Water Reliability Project

Central Basin’s Southeast Water Reliability Project (SWRP)–a 12 mile-long recycled water pipeline that will improve resource sustainability in southeast Los Angeles–will be one of 27 projects throughout the west to receive stimulus funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009.

In a press release issued last week, Central Basin’s Board President Ed Vasquez made a point to thank Rep. Grace Napolitano (D-Montebello) for her role in securing the funding: “Our Board owes a debt of thanks to Congresswoman Grace Napolitano for her tireless efforts and unwavering support…Without leaders like her in Congress, who understand how vital these projects are to the future of California’s water supply, none of this would be possible.”
