Local Congresswoman Takes Our Water Crisis to Washington

This week, one of our local Congresswomen, Rep. Grace Napolitano, (D-Santa Fe Springs), held a hearing in Washington to look at how Southern California can begin decreasing its dependency on the Bay Delta. The General Manager of the Metropolitan Water District, Jeff Kightlinger, was one of several panelists representing the California water industry.

According to Kightlinger, discussion centered on the importance for water recycling and conservation efforts to be coupled with infrastructure improvements, as well as the continued need for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to complete work on the biological opinions.

As a water district that shares several communities with the Congresswoman, Central Basin applauds her leadership on these key issues. If you’d like to hear more about these topics locally, we invite you to contact us for more information on our Central MWD Caucus and our Customer Workshops. After all, we believe coming together as a community is the only way we can effectively tackle these issues.
