MWD Allocation Plan: What’s Next
Hi everyone,
As I’m sure you’ve read in your local paper, the Metropolitan Water District last week voted to adopt the proposed water supply allocation plan without allowing member agencies the necessary time for additional review. This decision, which lacked profound foresight and consideration, was in short, extremely disappointing.
With reported above-average snowpack and rain levels beginning to boost our water supplies, we cannot see the urgency in adopting a plan that, if ever enforced, will have a severe and lasting impact on local communities.
Now, our attention must be on our next course of action. We will continue our efforts to protect the ratepayers and lower-income communities that stand to carry the weight of this plan on their shoulders. It might not be an easy road, but we have lots of support.
Without question, your support and actions have made a difference, bringing a new level of recognition to our region. This year, the allocation plan is one of many emerging issues that will impact our area. We look forward to your continued support as we work to represent your interests.
Thank you.
